Gifted Adults
In addition to working with adults who experience Anxiety and Trauma, I also specialize in working with Gifted Adults. Often times these issues will overlap. Sometimes people come to me with other issues that can be consistent with Giftedness. Some adults were identified as Gifted in childhood and some were not. Regardless, I often hear similar stories from adults who identify, or have been identified by others, as Gifted.
Perfectionism: Many Gifted adults struggle with perfectionism. Sometimes it is related to the high expectations others have put on them throughout their life. Other times self imposed expectations drive an often relentless need for perfection. Self criticism can also manifest as a part of perfectionism.
Loneliness: Gifted adults often tell me that they feel alone in the world. They may struggle to find people who understand them intellectually or creatively. I have worked with Gifted adults who think in pictures, shapes, or movements. Sometimes they feel as though they must translate their way of thinking so that other people can understand them better. This difference can cause Gifted adults to feel alone in the world or as though they do not belong.
Highly Sensitive: Many gifted adults are also highly sensitive people. They may perceive subtleties that others do not. They may feel things more intensely or personally. They may feel deeply wounded by injustices.
These issues may resonate with you whether you identify or have been identified by others as Gifted or not. Regardless of the label, if these types of issues sound familiar to you please reach out for a free consultation. I can help guide you to a better understanding of yourself and how to navigate in a world that can feel unwelcoming or overwhelming.
